2005 HEISMAN TROPHY VOTERS

On Saturday night, the 2005 Heisman Trophy was presented to Reggie Bush, of Southern California.

The media had 870 votes. All of the former Heisman winners (52) had a vote.
Those 922 votes, along with the one 'fan' vote, brought the total number of votes to 923. Bush received 784 of the possible 923 first place votes. That is a high number, but not at all surprising. However, what is not only surprising, but down right derelict, is the fact that Bush showed up on ONLY 99% of all the ballots.

Despite the fact that the ESPN crew was wondering who the ONE voter was that decided Bush was not even worthy of a second or third place vote, the actual math computes to NINE voters, if Bush did indeed receive 99% of the 923 votes and not 99.9%.

Those nine voters, aside from being labeled DOPES, should have their voting privileges permanently revoked.

In Reggie Bush we have one of those college players that come along maybe once every 15 to 20 years. Great players, such as Gayle Sayres, say the kid is a phenom and the greatest college running back they have witnessed in the past 20 years. To not even give this young man a third place vote, in a year when there were only three players invited to the ceremony, is just plain stupid.
